The show opened with Grant continuing his heartfelt words from last night’s (possibly) final Kings telecast. The team looked down and out, but magically, they were able to piece together one final run to force overtime and give the Arco faithful one last chance to blow the roof off of the aging building.

He then addressed reports from the NBA Board of Governor’s meeting that Mayor Johnson has a group headlined by billionaire Ron Burkle that is interested in investing to keep NBA basketball in Sacramento.

Grant’s longtime television partner and legendary Sacramento Kings personality Jerry Reynolds then joined the show, and the two reminisced about the years they’ve spent calling basketball together. They discuss the ups, the downs, and everything in between – all of which happened as employees of the Sacramento Kings.

In Grant’s second interview, Kings Radio Broadcaster Gary Gerould recapped his 26 years with the team on the Grant Napear Show. Grant and Gary talked about what losing NBA Basketball could mean to the city of Sacramento, and what this city and team has meant to them over the last few decades.

Grant then re-aired an interview the he did this morning on the Jim Rome Show, in which Grant and Jim lamented the potential loss of the Sacramento Kings and the impact it would have on the area.

The show closed with Grant taking a few phone calls from the droves of fans that still haven’t stopped buzzing from last night.

It’s been an amazing 24 hours in Sacramento since it was announced that the NBA’s relocation committee recommended that the Kings stay in Sacramento, so Grant continued the Kings talk with fans and spoke with multiple NBA broadcasters to dive deeper into the topic.

Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com joined Grant to discuss the Sacramento Kings staying put.

Howard-Cooper thought the recommendation to keep the Kings in Sacramento was a huge statement from the league. He said the NBA’s announcement wasn’t a “thank you letter” for the Kings, but rather a token of its belief in the viability of the Sacramento market going forward. Howard-Cooper also addressed Chris Hansen continuing his fight to purchase the Kings and the upcoming NBA Board of Governors vote that still must take place.

Grant’s TV partner Jerry Reynolds took some time to chat with him about the future of the Kings in Sacramento.

Reynolds said he was at home when he heard the news of the NBA’s recommendation and was jumping around with excitement. Reynolds said the Kings are his life and it would have been very tough to see the Kings franchise disappear if they had moved to Seattle. Reynolds also talked about the Kings’ low attendance when they were in Kansas City, the amazing fan base in Sacramento and the great run Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors have had this season.

NBA broadcaster Mike Breen came on the show to give another national opinion of the Kings news and the first round of the playoffs.

Breen shared his reaction to the NBA relocation committee’s recommendation and congratulated Grant on the news. Breen also talked about the New York Knicks’ chances of beating the Miami Heat, broadcasting the Warriors/Denver Nuggets game and the injuries that have plagued this year’s playoffs.

Gary Gerould, the long-time radio voice of the Kings, was on the show today.

Gerould gave his opinions on the NBA’s committee recommendation, and shared his memories and history broadcasting for the Kings.

Grant opened the show recapping an amazing day for Sacramento following the historic vote to deny the relocation of the Sacramento Kings to Seattle. Grant reflected on his afternoon celebrating with Kings fans at the Firestone Public House in Downtown Sacramento, talked about the potential sale of the team from the Maloof family to the group led by Vivek Ranadive & the upcoming NBA Draft Lottery.

Tim Roye, the radio voice of the Golden State Warriors, joined Grant to discuss Game 6 in Oakland Thursday night and the Warriors’ need to bounce back from sub-par performance in Game 5. He also talked about Spurs’ ability not to beat themselves with mental errors, Harrison Barnes improved play in the playoffs. Roye also said the key for Golden State to win was to limit Tony Parker ability to get in the paint & increase the number of times Steph Curry gets open looks at the basket.

Kings longtime play-by-play announcer Gary Gerould joined Grant to discuss the news of the Kings staying in Sacramento. Gerould talked about where he was when he found out the big news, his reflection on the ups and downs of this saga over the past 3 years and thoughts on the upcoming offseason.

Finally, Grant’s Rant addressed Ric Bucher’s false assertions that Maloofs would not sale to the Sacramento group. Grant blasted Bucher for being inaccurate and said he has lost all respect for him.
